Domenic Lanz, CEO of GOFAST

Dear GOFAST fans,

Climate change does not rest on hoping for the best; Immediate action is required. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assembled in October 2018 called for just that. Switzerland’s CO2 results are disappointing: while those from industrial building sources have declined, the transport emissions have continued to grow by 5% since 1990. This shows us that electric vehicles can make the difference. Indeed, in 2018, electric mobility provoked lively debates across the spectrum of Swiss politicians, attracting significant media attention. The famous auto manufacturers like Audi, Hyundai, Jaguar and others grabbed their chance this year to speed up the launch of their electric SUVs: Those who want to survive switch the lever to electric. The clock is ticking. The Swiss Car Importers Association announced early this year a target of 10% market share of all new registrations that should be electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles in Switzerland by 2020. The Swiss Confederation later decided to increase this target to 15% by 2022. More electric vehicles on the Swiss roads require more fast charging stations. This is where GOFAST comes into play.

2018 was a very successful and thrilling year for GOFAST. We opened many additional locations and deepened the cooperation between different utility companies, such as ebs, ewb, Säntis Energie and WWZ. We still have some time this year to reach 28 new locations this year. In 2019, we would like to expand the number of partners to drive growth.

We will have a glamourous start in 2019, as we are going to attend the 89th Geneva International Motor Show 2019 where we will present our fast charging stations, followed closely by the long-awaited Tesla Model 3 and after a while by Mercedes-Benz EQC, Mini E, Porsche Mission E, Kia E-Niro, Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-Tron, Hyundai Kona. GOFAST is expecting an electrifying year – whether politically, economically or for GOFAST itself.

Best regards and Happy New Year 2019!

Domenic Lanz

GOFAST thoroughly styled

Attention: Marina at the wheel

We all agreed on the fact that our communications were driving off without knowing any direction. Sometimes they were turning into a side road without stopping at the red light. Then our communications were cruising with a speed of 50km/h on the highway and mixing up the brake with the accelerator. This trip could last forever, but since October 2018 Marina became part of our team. She is now at wheel of our communications and driving directly towards consistent communications based on the motto "go fast or go home".

Marina Melnychuk has a bachelor’s degree in applied languages (translation studies) from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and a degree in public relations from the Swiss Public Relations Institute. This makes her well equipped for communications' tasks at GOFAST. She also brings some years of PR experience from two Swiss major companies and a big Swiss PR agency. Marina brings a fresh breeze to GOFAST as communication talent. She works on several topics on which she informs on different communication channels. We are pleased to welcome Marina to our team and to switch to a higher gear altogether.

GOFAST spreads out

No, GOFAST is not lying on a couch; on the contrary, despite Jingle Bells on the radio, we are working under high pressure on having 28 locations by the end of this year. The work on a new location in Deitingen is progressing as expected. Our fast charge station should be opened this year. We are constructing another location in Dietikon in the canton of Zurich too. Those asking themselves where our energy comes from, here is our answer – we are motivated and grateful to our partners who are committed to our charging stations despite the freezing weather.

WWZ offers electricity for Christmas

WWZ provides every electric vehicle with free electricity until 31 December 2018. This might be the opportunity for you to come and visit our new fast charging station at Blegistrasse 2 in Rotkreuz.

Plug & Charge at GOFAST

We are looking forward to the new technology called “plug & charge” based on the ISO standard 15118 that we want to introduce next year together with our technological partner, swisscharge.ch. GOFAST would belong to the first providers of “plug & charge”. The recharging will become even easier for electric car drivers whose cars are compatible with the standard, as the car driver is identified by plugging his electric vehicle. Thus, no RFID card or app is needed. However, the usual payment methods will remain available for non-registered customers.

The thing with the “E’s”, “I’s” and “Electrics”

In 2018, Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Hyundai Kona and KIA e-Niro were launched on the electric car market. The manufacturers are praising their new car models, running with electric motors only. We were asking ourselves what the differences between them are, so we summarized the facts in a table.

Switzerland is expected to see first deliveries of the long-awaited Tesla Model 3 next year. Some clients have been waiting for it for three years, twittering daily about it. Years of waiting will come to an end, for Tesla promises to bring the Model 3 in left-hand-drive to Europe in the first quarter of 2019: www.tesla.com
