Dear e-drivers, dear GOFAST-interested,

There is a new reason for e-drivers to smile! Since a few days the first GOFAST site, the first „Supercharger for all“, is in place! Thanks to the cooperation with the Azienda Elettrica Ticinese (AET), from now on you can charge 24/7, local and clean electricity at the Ticino motorway service area „Stalvedro“ (A2 Chiasso-Airolo, direction north).

The site was licensed by the Canton Ticino to the Swiss company GOtthard FASTcharge Ltd (gofastcharge.com) and is the first of its kind in Switzerland. During the charging process you can taste delicious meals in the restaurant (06:00 AM-12:00 PM), surf with the free WI-FI or discover local products in the shop.

With this location, a milestone for fast charging of electric vehicles is set: the ultra-modern charging station Swiss made by EVTEC (evtec.ch) allows a charging power of up to 150kW DC – even more than a TESLA Supercharger – dynamically available on CHAdeMO and COMBO plugs. Additionally, two Type2 connections deliver up to 60kW AC. This means, that in comparison to todays common 50kW charger, a 3-times higher charging power is available. An Audi Q6 eTron or a Porsche Mission-E will be able to charge 100km additional range in less than 10 minutes.

All plug standards and all electric vehicles are supported without restrictions. GOFAST is convinced that between cities or on motorways the quickest possible charging should be available, so that the efficient and ecological electric mobility can prevail in our future. The charging infrastructure should not be the limiting factor. It must be built already now for the „Tesla-Fighters“, as for example AUDI A6 eTron, available also in Switzerland starting 2018.

The GOFAST charging power is so high, that the new charging places are also appropriately marked. In fact, the familiar green charging fields for the older generation of 50kW charging stations, at GOFAST sites are blue and stand for superfast charging: depending on the vehicle, up to 100km in just 10 minutes.  Also, at each GOFAST station, two or more vehicles can charge at the same time, optimally sharing the power electronics of the charger.

And the costs for the e-driver? This depends primarily on the quantity of energy charged and on the charging speed of the car. At the present GOFAST renounces at any fee (membership or per session): thus 100km range with a VW eGOLF or a KIA SOUL EV cost only about 7 francs. This is cheaper than the fuel for a corresponding vehicle with combustion engine.

For the billing GOFAST collaborates with swisscharge.ch. The digital system allows access to charge with an RFID-member-card or with a Smartphone. swisscharge.ch even enables payments by credit card and billing over partner cards thanks to Hubject roaming (also foreign systems). For only 9 cents per minute even reservation is possible!

Thanks to the innovative partnerships with local electricity companies, by the end of 2017, a total of 20 GOFAST sites in all regions of Switzerland are expected. This represents a first national network of high-performance fast chargers for all types of electric vehicles.
